What you need to knit the newborn pixie hat

To knit this cute baby pixie hat, you need a pair each of 7 and 8mm knitting needles. If you don’t have 7mm please feel free to just use 8mm ones. The hat is knit flat and seamed at the end.

You will also need around 50g of a light super bulky yarn in two colours. I used Lana Grossa Mille II and some leftover handspun yarn that I had used to make our fur trimmed fingerless mittens.

You don’t have to use handspun yarn. If however you like the look of it please check out our guide to buying it.

Whatever you use, look for a yarn that knit ups with 8mm needles. For a classic baby yarn in this thickness, you may like King Cole Comfort Chunky. This is a very soft light super chunky yarn that knits up super quickly.

You will also need scissors and a darning needle to make this newborn pixie hat.
