  1. Looks lovely! Question though, I want to make sure I’m reading the pattern correctly. On the edging, section C, and section D when it says s1wyib K to end do you repeat the s1wyib K to end?
Section B s1wyib K4 (K1P1) repeat to last 5 st you only repeat the k1p1.
    Section C R30 s1wyib k4 p to last 5 st k5 you repeat the s1wyib k4 p
    Section D R41 s1wyib k6 (yo k2tog k2) repeat to last 5 st you only repeat yo k2tog k2?

    Thanks!

    • 1St stitch of row is always slipped.
Then the rest of the row is knit
Slip one knit, 4 then repeat the k1p1 for the rest of the row.
      Next section, S1, knit 4, p to last 5 St, k5
D yes, just the bit in the brackets.
Basically there are 5 k stitches at the beginning and end of the row to make the border the rest of the instructions are to be repeated, not the first 5 St.

    • I would find a basic hat pattern, then do 2_3 sets of the lace and texture round the main part of the hat before you do the decreases

  2. I am new to knitting. I got the Alex’s Blanket on Ravelry but I don’t know what a Duck egg cast on is. Can you enlighten me please

    • The blanket just uses a normal cast on. The yarn is in colour duck egg. Sorry, it must be the formatting the squidged then together. Just cast on like you normally do.

  3. I am knitting your Alex blanket and I am new at this.. I am getting a bit confused with these directions: Section D. This is a garter and lace section. (4 rows)
R39 Slwyib K to end. R40 Slwyib K to end.
    R41 Slwyib K6 (YO K2tog K2) repeat to last 5 st. K5
    R42 Slwyib K to end.

On Row 41 what am I repeating? Am I just repeating the (YO K2tog K2) or do I repeat K6 too…

  4. I started this recently and am currently on row 22 (repeating section A) and I have a couple of questions. First, mine does not look like your photos. You sample seems to have stockinette between the initial edging and the moss stitches. Mine has short bits of knit showing among the garter stitches. Secondly, when I do the row 12 rows, I tend to end up with the end being k4 p k4, not k4 p k5 – there are not 5 stitches left after the last purl. I’ve recounted my stitches and the count is correct and the pattern across matches k4 p until the end. Thoughts? I love how this blanket looks and want to make it for a friend.

    • The beginning after the garter stitch edging is stocking stitch. This is the first a section.
Are you making sure you slip the first stitch, then knit 4 at the beginning of the moss stitch? For those sections there are 10 edge sts in total. Then the remaining k1p1 will be done 55 times between the edge stitches.
I am unsure about what you mean with the comment about short bits of knit? A section is garter edges for 5 stitches each side and the rest in stocking.
      It’s not slip 1. k4 p, k4 p, k4 p etc.
It is k4. Purl all stitches to the last 5 stitches, k5
It should be stocking stitch for that part.
      How this helps.

      • Thank you, you’ve solved that mystery. I have another. In section C, mine again differs from the photos you’ve posted. I’ve knit 3 rows, which is giving me a true garter stitch – 2 purls rows on the right side. Your photos appear to have 2 single purl rows separated by a couple of knit rows (st-st). Help again! I really do love this pattern and it doesn’t seem difficult so I’m unsure why I’m again having an issue.

        Thank you!

      • You have knit 3 rows, but because you should have started with a right side row you should have only 1 purl bump row on the right side. The 4th row is purl which will give the stocking stitch between rows,
Overall the section, starting with the right side should be k, k, k, p, k, k. You will end up with 2 spaced apart purl bump rows, then go back to section a

  5. Question. Section C. Says it is garter. However row 30 states to purl. Garter is knit every row. So should row 30 be knit or purl. Lovely pattern. Can’t wait to get started
    Please and thank you
