Unraveled DIY Festival & Free Pattern!

Last week I got some great news…I will be a vendor at Unraveled DIY Festival presented by the Textile Center on June 10th!!! With so little time to work on things, I’ve been a busy little crafter…knitting up coffee cozies, headbands & other summer friendly knits, making felt beads for jewelery, and spinning up some amazing yarns. I’d really love to have some of my patterns printed & ready for sale, but I’m not sure the turnaround time would be enough. (I should do this anyway for future shows). And of course I will be taking along my hats, scarves & mitts, because, even though it’s summer, we in Minnesota always know that winter will come again. 🙂

I’m also excited to see all the other amazing crafters & artisans. The trade show is open from 6-9pm, so hopefully there will be time to go around & meet them all (and maybe buy some handmade goodies!). There are also some cool events happening including an Etsy Craft Meet-Up and an interactive booth with the one-and-only, StevenBe. Seriously, three hours for so much doesn’t seem like nearly enough time for all that’s planned.

In spirit of happy knitting (and because I promised) here is a free pattern for the coffee cozies I’ve been making 🙂

These Corrugated Cozies are great for using up little scraps of yarn (I haven’t made actual measurements, but I would say less than 50 yards will get you through). The pattern is a simple 4-row repeat and up ultra-fast.

Materials: approx. 50 yards worsted weight yarn. I’ve used Malabrigo, Peruvia and Noro Silk Garden.
Needles: size 5,6,or 7 depending on your gauge. You will want to keep the gauge on the tighter side so using a smaller needle with the yarn is recommended.
Also, a darning needle for seaming up the ends.

Special abbreviation – Right Twist (RT): K2tog, but keep both sts from left needle on the left needle, then k into first st again and drop both sts from left needle.

Cast on 20 stitches
Row 1 – K1, P1, K1, P to last 3 stitches, K1, P1, K1
Row 2 – K3, RT to last 3 stitches, K3
Row 3 – Repeat Row 1
Row 4 – K4, RT to last 4 stitches, k4.
Repeat rows 1-4 until work measures around 6-7 inches, or long enough to fit around your cup or choice.
The stitch pattern will stretch quite a bit, so it’s better to be on the snug side.
Sew ends together and display proudly while you enjoy your daily coffee!

Enjoy!

Love your pattern, the nice part about this cozy is that the pattern creates a bulk that keeps your fingers from burning. Easy to remember and looks great too. Thanks for sharing.
