In my stashdiving endeavor, I came across these balls of variegated dish cotton yarn. While I really enjoy knitting dishcloths, I almost never use them. Just wasn’t brought up with them as part of the kitchen.
I believe that variegated yarn is best served knitted flat to show off the interplay of the colors on a smooth canvas. Unfortunately, it makes for very boring knitting so I jazzed it up a bit with these dishcloths by adding a neutral color and twists. This is the first pattern I’ve ever written out, so please let me know if there’s anything that I can improve!
First one I made was with Sugar ‘n Cream that I dug out from the stash. The colors are Country Side Ombre and Natural. Actually, I’m not sure if the natural color yarn is Sugar ‘n Cream, the label was lost.
I put this one into action already and the ridges come in really handy for scrubbing. Also, it makes an excellent potholder for when you’re setting down hot plates on the dinner table.
When I cast off, I realized how much fun it was that I threw a ball of Nettle Multi colored Dishie cotton into my shopping cart. It was my first time knitting with Dishie and it is really a very hardworking yarn. I like it!
(The irony of buying more yarn in my effort to stashbust is not lost on me. Sigh, it’s the constant battle that we knitters face.)
Hope you guys like it! I’m really excited to share this pattern, my first ever.

Love that for a “hotplate” for my St. Pat’s Day celebration! Just curious–did you carry your yarn up the side, or did you tie it in when changing colors? I’m would want a nice neat edge. Thanks.
Ginny
I carried it up the side. When starting to knit the 3rd row of the pattern, I twist the yarn with the previous color so it stays neat.
Glad you like it! 🙂
Thanks. I ordered the yarn and am anxiously awaiting its arrival 🙂
