Materials

Berroco Plush (50 grs), 9(9-10-11-12-13) balls #1906 Cosmos.

Straight knitting needles, size 10 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.

16” length circular knitting needle, size 10.

1 St marker.


Gauge

12 sts = 4”; 20 rows = 4” in St st.

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.


Back

With straight needles, cast on 24(30-36-42-48-54) sts. Purl 1 row.

Inc Row (RS): K1, M1k, k to last st, M1k, k1. Working in St st, rep this inc every RS row 5 times more, end on WS. Cast on 2 sts at beg of the next 4 rows, then 3 sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 50(56-62-68-74-80) sts. Work even until piece measures 13 1/2” above last group of cast-on sts, end on WS.

Shape Armholes: Bind off 3(3-3-4-4-4) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 44(50-56-60-66-72) sts.

Dec Row (RS): K2, SSK, k to last 4 sts, k2 tog, k2. Rep this dec every RS row 4(4-4-5-5-5) times more – 34(40-46-48-54-60) sts. Work even until armholes measure 7(7-7 1/2-8-8 1/2-9)”, end on WS.

Shape Shoulders and Neck: Next Row (RS): Bind off 2(3-3-4-4-5) sts, k until there are 5(7-9-9-11-12) sts on RH needle, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 20(20-22-22-24-24) sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 2(3-3-4-4-5) sts at beg of the next row, then 2(3-4-4-5-6) sts at beg of the next 4 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at each neck edge every RS row once.


Front

Work same as for back until armholes measure 5(5-5 1/2-6-6 1/2-7)”, end on WS – 34(40-46-48-54-60) sts.

Shape Neck: Next Row (RS): K10(13-15-16-18-21), join another ball of yarn and bind off center 14(14-16-16-18-18) sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge every RS row 4 times. When armholes measure 7(7-7 1/2-8-8 1/2-9)”, end on WS. Bind off 2(3-3-4-4-5) sts at each armhole edge once, then 2(3-4-4-5-6) sts twice for shoulders.


Sleeves

With straight needles, cast on 26 sts. Work even in St st for 1”, end on WS. Inc 1 st each end of next row, then every 1” 0(0-0-0-0-4) times, every 1 1/2” 0(0-0-4-8-8) times, every 2” 0(0-3-5-2-0) times, then every 2 1/2” 6(6-7-0-0-0) times – 40(40-42-46-48-52) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 18” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Cap: Bind off 3(3-3-4-4-4) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 34(34-36-38-40-44) sts.

Dec Row (RS): K2, SSK, k to last 4 sts, k2 tog, k2. Rep this dec every RS row 8(8-6-6-4-6) times more, then every other RS row 1(1-2-2-3-2) times, end on WS. Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Bind off remaining 10(10-14-16-20-22) sts.


Finishing

Sew shoulder seams.

Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at center back neck, pick up and k13(13-14-14-15-15) sts to left shoulder seam, 13 sts along left front neck edge, 14(14-16-16-18-18) sts across front neck edge, 13 sts along right front neck edge, then 13(13-14-14-15-15) sts across remaining back neck edge – 66(66-70-70-74-74) sts. Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up. Work even in St st (k EVERY rnd) for 3 1/4”. Bind off all sts loosely. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
