American Girl Doll Knit Peter Pan Collar

Free Doll Collar Knitting Pattern

Skills Required/Techniques Used:

-Knit & purl, cast on & bind off

-Increasing:yarn over (YO)

Materials: Comfy Fingering by Knit-Picks fingering weight yarn, 75% Pima Cotton, 25% acrylic, 218 yards (199 meters)/50 grams, color white - about 15 yards, or leftovers of any fingering-weight yarn.

Notions: yarn needle, stitch markers.

Needles: US #1 (2.25 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge: 26 sts x 36 rows = 4" x 4" (10 x 10 cm), but not very important.

Pattern Notes:

Garter stitch: all rows knit.

Stockinette stitch:

Row 1 (RS) : knit

Row 2 (WS): purl

Repeat 2 rows.

Selvedge/edge stitches: knit the first stitch and purl the last stitch in the row.

Abbreviations:
K – knit
P – purl
Yo – yarn over
RS – right side
WS – wrong side

sm - slip marker

Collar

The collar is worked in one piece in garter and stockinette stitches, yarn overs create increases and the lace pattern.

Cast on 100 stitches and work 3 rows in garter stitch: k99, p1.
Row 4 (WS): bind off 30 stitches, k69, p1.
Row 5 (RS): bind off 30, k39, p1, at the same time place markers before the 6th, 15th, 26th and 35th stitches.
Row 6 (WS and all WS rows through 12): k1, purl to the end of the row.
Row 7 (RS and all RS rows through 13, increase rows): *knit all sts till marker, yo, sm, k1, yo - repeat from * 4 times, knit till the last st, p1. Thus you add 8 stitches in each RS row.
Rows 14-16: knit till the last st, p1.
Bind off. Weave in the yarn ends.
