Introducing Bronntanas!

 I can't believe that Summer 2024 is almost here.  I'm not sure where the time goes, but it does fly by.  Delaware Head Huggers is still knitting, collecting and distributing hats across the country and I am still working on new patterns.  Life is busy - for all of us, but I finally got this pattern up and ready.

Bronntanas is the Irish word for gift.  The 12 Weeks of Hat Patterns were all named using different words for Hug and now the next several will be words that mean gift.  The above model was knit using Impeccable,  a 4-weight yarn, but of course, the pattern has information for all yarn weights too.

I made this pattern several times, using different yarns.  The first time I reversed my knit and purl stitches and it wasn't quite what I was looking for.  That said, it still is cute, so if you want to make this version, just reverse your knits and purls in the even rows.

Using a variegated yarn muddled the stitch definition a bit, but again, the pattern works, so use whatever yarn you prefer!

A thinner, silkier yarn also hid some of the stitch definition.  Whatever yarn you have on hand or like the best will work for this hat!

Introducing Halata! Week 12 of the 12 Weeks of Hat Patterns

 It's the last pattern of the 12 Weeks of Hat Patterns!  Halata is the Finnish word for hug.

I hope you enjoyed these new patterns and I hope you will be using them to make many chemo caps in the future.  Let me know which one was your favorite!  I hope to design more hats in 2024.

This model was knit using Charisma, a 5-weight yarn what is very soft and quite warm!  The pattern has instructions for all yarn weights, so grab what's in your stash and get knitting.  This pattern looks great in any weight.  Knit the brim in the same color if you'd like.  Have fun with it.

Introducing Câlin! Week 11 of the 12 Weeks of Hat Patterns 2023

 It's the penultimate hat pattern of 2023!  Câlin is the French word for hug.

This model was knit using Lion Brand Hometown yarn, a 6-weight yarn, which works up so quickly and is so warm!  The pattern has instructions for all yarn weights, so grab what's in your stash and get knitting.  This pattern looks great in any weight.  Knit the brim in a contrasting color if you'd like.  Have fun with it.

Introducing Uścisk! Week 10 of the 12 Weeks of Hat Patterns 2023

Week 10 of the 12 Weeks of Hat Patterns!  Uścisk is the Polish word for hug!

This model was knit using Lion Brand Hometown yarn, which is 6-weight. You can use whatever yarn you have on hand though because the pattern includes instructions for all yarn weights.  Varying twisted stitches in every other row give this hat a unique texture.  The rows between are just knit stitches so this hat can really fly off your needles.

Introducing Kram! Week 9 of the 12 Weeks of Hat Patterns 2023

It's Week 9 of the 12 Weeks of Hat Patterns!  Kram is the Swedish word for hug.  

This model was knit using Knit Picks Brava Bulky, a 5-weight yarn.  Of course, the pattern includes instructions for all yarn weights so you can use what is in your stash. Simple slipped stitches add the colorful pop to this hat.  But, you could work this hat in any color combination you can think of.  Team colors, school colors, favorite colors - try them all!
