Baby Bird Blanket, free knitting pattern in Lion Brand Heartland in preemie, stroller, and baby blanket sizes by Underground Crafter I love the seed stitch. It adds texture to any pattern and it looks great! So when I found this downward arrow pattern combined with seed stitch in one of my favorite Japanese stitch guides, I knew I had to use it.

Baby Bird Blanket, free knitting pattern in Lion Brand Heartland in preemie, stroller, and baby blanket sizes by Underground Crafter Like the Hummingbird Hat, this pattern is designed to meet the donation requirements for Knots of Love. If you’re new to Knots of Love, you can learn more about this wonderful organization that distributes handmade hats and preemie blankets in this video celebrating the donation of their 350,000 hat!

I used Lion Brand Heartland, a wonderfully soft, easy care yarn available in beautiful colors, for my blanket. If you plan to donate your version of the Baby Bird Blanket to Knots of Love, be sure to follow their guidelines and use a Heartland or another yarn on their approved yarns list.

Baby Bird Blanket

Knitting Pattern by Underground Crafter

Updated 11/29/2018

This textured, striped baby blanket is perfect for welcoming a little one. This preemie size of this pattern is designed to meet the donation requirements of Knots of Love, a charity that distributes handmade blankets to infants in neonatal intensive care units. This blanket also coordinates with the Hummingbird Hat.

Finished Sizes

  • Preemie Blanket (Stroller Blanket, Baby Blanket). Photographed sample is Preemie Blanket.
    • Preemie Blanket: 18” (46 cm) wide x 24” (61 cm) long.
