Bits and Baubles Shawl

A Triangular Shawl for Kids full of bits and Baubles!

The Bits and Baubles Shawl is an easy to knit triangular shawl with a bit of fun and flair for the little ones in your life.  This pattern was originally designed for my 8 year old niece as I found the perfect yarn for her next Christmas gift, and just needed a pattern to suit it.  The yarn is a beautiful grey with a thin ribbon of gossamer rainbow that runs through it – bright enough to fit her personality, but subtle enough that mom can let her wear it almost anywhere.

Bits and Baubles Shawl Pattern

This shawl knits up quickly with the top being a simple stockinette stitch combined with Make One Lefts and Make One Rights.

How to Make the Baubles:

Make one front and back in next stitch two times, so you have a total of five stitches instead of the 1. Place them on the right needle, purl them, then knit them, then purl them, then knit them. Then slip each stitch over the second stitch to decrease back down to one stitch.

Tools for the Bits and Baubles Shawl:

Yarn: Caron Simply Soft Party (By Yarnspirations) or similar medium weight/number 4/worsted yarn. I used just under three skeins of yarn, but am planning to use about one more to add some fringe to this shawl after I block it.

Needles: US Size 8 circular needle

Garter Tab Cast On for Bits and Baubles:

Cast on 3 STS

Knit 6 rows, turn the work 90 degrees, pick up and knit three stitches.

Turn the work again, and pick up and knit three more stitches.

Setup Row: K2, P2, PM, P1, PM, P2, K2
