Hello everyone I am speculating making this hat in Adult size and I thought ,I will just look for a hat that’s looks the same with the same gauge and voila there you have it and check how many Stiches you need to repeat the pattern in this case 8 and the rest you have to do the math.

I note that you have a guide to calculate how to enlarge the jumper to man size. Do you have guidance on how to increase the hat size for an adult please? Thank you.

Dear Corinne, unlike the sweater, unfortunately we do not have a grown up version of this hat. Happy Crafting!

Hei.

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. DECREASE TIP (evenly): To calculate how to decrease evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 112 stitches) and divide stitches by number of decreases to be done (e.g. 8) = 14. In this example decrease by knitting alternately every 13th and 14th stitch together. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on a short circular needle, switch to double pointed needles when decreasing. HAT: Cast on 112-112-120-128-128 stitches on circular needle size 2.5 mm = US 1,5 with pistachio. Knit 1 round. Then work rib with knit 2/purl 2 for 3 cm = 1 1/8”. Switch to circular needle size 3 mm = US 2,5. Knit 1 round while decreasing 8 stitches evenly in all sizes - read DECREASE TIP = 104-104-112-120-120 stitches. Work A.1 in the round (= 13-13-14-15-15 repetitions of 8 stitches). REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When A.1 has been worked, continue with light grey blue until piece measures 15-15½-16½-17½-18½ cm = 6” – 6 1/8”-6 1/2”- 6 7/8”- 7 1/4”. Now insert marker threads between each repetition of A.1 = 13-13-14-15-15 marker threads (= 8 stitches between each marker thread). Now decrease towards the top of hat every other round as follows: Decrease 1 stitch after every marker thread by slipping first stitch knitwise, knit 1 and pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 13-13-14-15-15 stitches decreased on round). Knit 1 round without decrease. Repeat these 2 rounds until 13-13-14-15-15 stitches remain. Knit 1-1-0-1-1, knit 2 together the entire round = 7-7-7-8-8 stitches. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Hat measures approx. 19-20-21-22-23 cm = 7 1/2”-8”-8 1/4-8 3/4”-9” from top and down. POMPOM: Make a pompom with an approx. diameter of 5 cm = 2” with light grey blue. Fasten pompom at the top in the tip of hat. |
