Romance Wrap

I can’t say that I’m normally drawn to lacy or frilly lines and aesthetics, but the beautiful warm tones of the Hue + Me palette were just begging to be used in something delicate and feminine. Enter the Romance Wrap - a versatile swath of fabric dotted with eyelets and edged with bobbles that will have you twirling with delight! I’ve been dying to switch up my usual triangle wrap with a crescent shape, and the scooped curved edge felt like the perfect silhouette to match this concept. To keep with the rounded theme, I added long lines of eyelets using yarn overs, and discovered a super fun technique to bind off using bobbles to mirror the open holes and add drama and elegance to any ensemble. The Romance Wrap has soft feminine energy with all of its curls and curves and will dress up a simple outfit or compliment a more formal look.

The color Bellini is such a gorgeous peachy pink that worked beautifully for this design, but I can imagine it in any of the other 17 colors in the Hue + Me palette! Just like my beloved triangle wraps, the Romance Wrap can be worn in a multitude of ways, and having several in different colors will keep you covered for literally any outfit!

I love the oversized, extra long and narrow silhouette of this piece as it just seems to flow and immediately put you in a twirling, romantic mood. It is so cozy worked up in bulky weight yarn, and the addition of the bobbles adds the perfect amount of extra squish to make it feel as though you’re wrapped up in a hug.

This would make the perfect Valentine’s Day accessory whether we’re still stuck at home or able to venture out of the house. Worked up in Juniper or Spicy, it would also make an elegant holiday ensemble addition!

The Romance Wrap is yet another example of how simple stitches and basic techniques can produce such an elaborate and dramatic finished piece that it’s hard to believe a beginner could likely tackle this project.

This is an easy level knitting pattern and the techniques involved are the knit and purl stitches, yarn over increase, working into the back loop of the stitch, knit 2 together decrease, and making bobbles.

K2tog – Knit 2 together
MB – Make bobble
P – Purl
Rep – Repeat
St(s) – Stitch(es)
Tbl – Through the back loop
YO – Yarn over

STITCH EXPLANATION:

MB (make bobble) – Without removing the stitch from the left needle, knit into it four times by knitting into the front, then back, then front, then back of the stitch. Turn work and purl across the four stitches, turn again and knit across the four stitches, turn again and purl across the four stitches, and turn once more and knit across the four stitches. Pass the three bottom stitches, one at a time, over the first stitch so that only one remains.

Check out my tutorial video below on making bobbles without having to turn your work to simplify this fun technique!

Notes: Pattern is worked from the top down and increases by 2 stitches on every row. With the exception of rows following eyelet rows, all stitches worked into yarn overs are knit into the back loop to close the holes.
