Tyty hat

A hat with lace and cables and a cable band.

(ohje löytyy suomeksi TÄÄLTÄ)

Yarn: Noro Kureyon. The light hat is made with a random acrylic/wool mix I found from my stash, I just wanted to see what the pattern looks like with just one colour. You will need two balls of Kureyon
Needles: 5mm
Gauge: Kureyon on 5mm needles: 10 stitches x 11 rows = 5x5cm
Size: Adult
Other: A crochet hook and a piece of scrap yarn for the cast on.

The pattern:

Using a temporary crochet cast on, cast on 20 stitches.
Start knitting the band chart back and forth in rows. Knit rows 1-14 a total of 9 times. The work measures approx. 50cm and it fits around the head.
Unravel the cast on, pick up the stitches and using kitchener stitch, close the ends of the band.

From the garter stitch edge, pick up 117 stitches (13 stitches for every 14 rows) and join to work in the round.
Knit 1 round.
Knit 1 more round and increase 3 stitches evenly = 120 stitches.

Start knitting the hat chart. Knit rounds 1-12 once and then rounds 1-7 once more.

Knit rounds 1-18 of the top chart.

After the chart, you have 12 stitches left. Cut the yarn, pull through the stitches and pull tight to close the hole. Weave in all ends.
