I also need an answer to Margrida's question: Hi there! In the front part "When the piece measures 58-60-61-63-64-66 cm, decrease 12 stitches evenly over the knitted stitches in A.4 = 110-114-118-122-126-130 stitches.", what does that mean? do i decrease those 12 stitches even if it is in a cable? Also: I did the back piece and the outer parts of the front piece in plain stockinet stich, instead of moss. Do i still need to decrease? Originally posted on 24.11.2023 - 13:11

Dear Mrs Thornley, work the next row decreasing evenly 12 stitches in A.4, this means work knit 2 together a total of 12 times in the knitted sections - work the remaining sts in A.4 K over K and P over P just as before. This will allow you getting the correct width (as you required more sts for cables than for stocking/casting off). Happy knitting!

Dear Drops Team, I am a little confused with the schematic diagram measurements. Are they in inches or cm? If I wish to knit a sweater for 38 chest size, should i go for the first (S) size?
09.01.2024 - 06:41DROPS Design answered:
Dear Priya, measurements in chart are in cm, convert into inches here; measure a similar garment you/he have /has and like/s the shape and compare these measurements to the ones in the chart, this is the best way to find the matching size. Read more here. Happy knitting!

Diagrams A2, A3 and A5, A6 Where does 2 end and 3 begin ? Is it after the cable stitch? Similarly where does 5 end and 6 begin?
06.07.2023 - 17:57DROPS Design answered:
Dear Marylin, A.2 and A.5 are the whole charts, while A.3 and A.6 are a section of each of them, respectively. So, working A.2 and A.5 would mean to work a whole repeat of the chart, while working A.3 and A.6 would exclude the right part of the chart, so, if we were reading the chart from right to left, A.3 and A.6 would begin in the knit section, and exclude the initial purl section. Happy knitting!

One more question, I forgot to add this on my last question. If the Drops suggested knitting needle sizes are 4.5mm and 3.5mm but I use 4mm for the body, should I use 3.25mm for the ribbing or 3.5mm? Thank you very much for your help.
27.10.2022 - 06:41DROPS Design answered:
Hi Myrna, Would suggest that you use 3 mm needles for the ribbing. Happy knitting!

When the piece measures 58-60-61-63-64-66 cm = 22 3/4"-23 5/8"-24"-24 3/4"-25 1/4"-26", decrease 12 stitches evenly over the knitted stitches in A.4 = 110-114-118-122-126-130 stitches. On the next row from the right side place the middle 32 stitches on a thread for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Bind off on each row from the neck as follows: 2 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 2-2-3-3-3-4 times = 35-37-38-40-41-43 stitches on the shoulder. When the piece measures 65-67-69-71-73-75 cm = 25 1/2"-26 3/8"-27 1/8"-28"-28 3/4"-29 1/2", decrease 4 stitches in the knitted sections of each A.2 and A.3 / A.5 and A.6 = 27-29-30-32-33-35 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 66-68-70-72-74-76 cm = 26"-26 3/4"-27 1/2"-28 3/8"-29 1/8"-29 1/2". Bind off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 62-62-66-66-70-70 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 and DROPS Soft Tweed or DROPS Daisy. Work rib back and forth as follows – first row is right side: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* until there is 1 stitch left, 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Work this rib for 7 cm = 2 3/4". Change to circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7. Knit 1 row from the right side and decrease 8-6-8-8-10-8 stitches evenly on the row = 54-56-58-58-60-62 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side until the sleeve measures 10 cm = 4”. Increase 1 stitch inside both edge stitches – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 2½-2½-2-1½-1½-1½ cm = 1"-1"-3/4"-1/2"-1/2"-1/2" a total of 15-15-16-19-19-21 times = 84-86-90-96-98-104 stitches. When the sleeve measures 52-51-50-49-48-47 cm = 20 1/2"-20"-19 3/4"-19 1/4"-19"-18 1/2", bind off 3 stitches on each side. Bind off for the sleeve cap at the beginning of each row as follows: 2 stitches 2-2-3-3-4-4 times, 1 stitch 0-1-0-1-0-1 time on each side. Then bind off 2 stitches on each side until the sleeve measures 57 cm = 22 1/2" in all sizes, bind off 3 stitches on each side, then bind off the remaining stitches. The sleeve measures 58 cm = 22 3/4" in all sizes. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams inside the bind-off edges. Sew in the sleeves. Sew the sleeve and side seams in one go, inside the 1 edge stitch. NECK: The neck is worked in the round, starting from the right side by one shoulder seam. Use short circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 and DROPS Soft Tweed or DROPS Daisy. Knit up 96 to 108 stitches (including the stitches from the thread in front) – the number of stitches must be divisible by 4. Purl 1 round and knit 1 round. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 11 cm = 4 3/8". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. To avoid the neck being tight and rolling outwards, it is important the seam is elastic. |
