---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.2 and A.3). Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. INCREASE TIP: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next round work yarn over twisted to avoid holes. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- TOP - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work back piece and front piece back and forth, top down separately. First work the straps, then cast on stitches for neck between straps, and work back piece/front piece back and forth separately until armholes are done. Then put back piece and front piece together and work body in the round until finished measurements. Sew straps together on the shoulders. RIGHT STRAP AT THE BACK (when garment is worn): Cast on 9-9-11-11-13-13 stitches on double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6 with DROPS Paris. Work rib back and forth as follows( first row = right side): 1 stitch in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above - * knit 1, purl 1 *, repeat from *-* 3-3-4-4-5-5 times in total, knit 1, 1 stitch in garter stitch. When strap measures 5-6-7-5-6-7 cm = 2"-2⅜"-2¾"-2"-2⅜"-2¾" and last row is worked from wrong side, put strap aside. LEFT STRAP AT THE BACK (when garment is worn): Cast on the same number of stitches as on right strap at the back and work the same way as right strap at the back. When strap measures approx. 5-6-7-5-6-7 cm = 2"-2⅜"-2¾"-2"-2⅜"-2¾" and last row is worked from right side, slip stitches on circular needle size 4 MM = US 6. Do not cut the yarn but cast on 31-41-37-37-43-43 new stitches at the end of this row for neck, then work stitches from right strap as before = 49-59-59-59-69-69 stitches on needle. Insert 1 marker here - now measure piece from here! BACK PIECE: Work rib back and forth as before over all stitches as with 1 stitch in garter stitch in each side. When rib measures 3 cm = 1⅛" from marker and next row is worked from right side, switch to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8. Work next row as follows from right side: 1 stitch in garter stitch, knit 1, purl 1, knit until 3 stitches remain on row, purl 1, knit 1, 1 stitch in garter stitch. Knit from wrong side but work the outermost 3 stitches in each side in garter stitch and rib as before. Now the pattern begins. Work first row as follows from right side: 1 stitch in garter stitch, knit 1, purl 1, work A.1A, work A.1B 3-4-4-4-5-5 times in total, A.1C, purl 1, knit 1 and 1 stitch in garter stitch. Continue pattern like this. When A.1 has been worked vertically, begin increase for armhole. Work first row as follows from right side: 1 stitch in garter stitch, knit 1, purl 1 A.2A, work A.2B 4-5-5-5-6-6 times in total, A.2C, purl 1, knit 1 and 1 stitch in garter stitch. Continue pattern back and forth like this. AT THE SAME TIME on row marked with arrow in A.2, cast on 4-4-7-7-7-12 new stitches for armholes at the end of these 2 rows = 65-75-81-91-101-111 stitches. Piece measures approx. 16-17-18-20-21-22 cm = 6¼"-6¾"-7"-8"-8¼"-8¾". Put piece aside and work the front piece. LEFT STRAP AT THE FRONT (when garment is worn): Cast on 9-9-11-11-13-13 stitches on double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6 with DROPS Paris. Work rib back and forth as follows( first row = right side): 1 stitch in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above - * knit 1, purl 1 *, repeat from *-* 3-3-4-4-5-5 times in total, knit 1, 1 stitch in garter stitch. When strap measures 9-10-11-9-10-11 cm = 3½"-4"-4⅜"-3½"-4"-4⅜" and last row is worked from wrong side, put strap aside. RIGHT STRAP AT THE FRONT (when garment is worn): Cast on the same number of stitches as on left strap at the front and work the same way as left strap at the front. When strap measures approx. 9-10-11-9-10-11 cm = 3½"-4"-4⅜"-3½"-4"-4⅜" and last row is worked from right side, slip stitches on circular needle size 4 MM = US 6. Do not cut the yarn but cast on 31-41-37-37-43-43 new stitches at the end of this row for neck, then work stitches from left strap as before = 49-59-59-59-69-69 stitches on needle. Insert 1 marker here - now measure piece from here! FRONT PIECE: Work rib back and forth as before over all stitches as with 1 stitch in garter stitch in each side. Now the pattern and increase for armholes begin. Work first row as follows from right side: 1 stitch in garter stitch, knit 1, purl 1, work A.2A, work A.2B 4-5-5-5-6-6 times in total, A.2C, purl 1, knit 1 and 1 stitch in garter stitch. Continue pattern back and forth like this. AT THE SAME TIME on rows marked with arrow in A.2, cast on 4-4-7-7-7-12 new stitches for armholes at the end of these 2 rows = 65-75-81-91-101-111 stitches. Piece measures approx. 16-17-18-20-21-22 cm = 6¼"-6¾"-7"-8"-8¼"-8¾". Then work body as explained below. BODY: Slip stitches from front piece and back piece on to same circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 = 130-150-162-182-202-222 stitches. Insert 1 marker in each side where piece was put together. Work first round as follows: XS/S - M - XXXL: * Purl 2-2-0, A.3A, work A.3B 5-6-10 times in total, A.3C, purl 2-2-0 *, work from *-* 1 more time. Continue pattern like this but on all rounds where you are not purling all stitches, knit the 2-2-0 stitches on each side of markers. L - XL - XXL: * A.3A, work A.3B 6-7-8 times in total, A.3C *, work from *-* 1 more time. ALL SIZES: When A.3 has been worked 1½ time vertically – finish after 1 round purl over all stitches, piece measures approx. 13 cm = 5⅛" from where piece was put together. Work in stockinette stitch until piece measures 13-13-14-14-15-16 cm = 5⅛"-5⅛"-5½"-5½"-6"-6¼" from where piece was put together. Now work A.4 in the round over all stitches. When A.4 has been worked, knit 1 round while at the same time increasing 12-18-22-28-28-32 stitches evenly - read INCREASE TIP = 142-168-184-210-230-254 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6. Work rib (knit 1/purl 1) for 7 cm = 2¾". Loosely bind off. Piece measures approx. 39-40-42-44-46-48 cm = 15¼"-15¾"-16½"-17¼"-18"-19" from cast-on edge on shoulder straps. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder straps together. |

Bonjour.

I have tried doing what you have suggested but the pattern comes out all wrong after joining the Front and Back pieces. Also the measurements when doing the front piece says it should be the same length as the back piece. Confusing a bit.
13.07.2023 - 10:55DROPS Design answered:
Dear Debora, the front piece has more neck than the back piece. A difference of approx. 4cm. These 4 cm are worked in the back with A.1 (and later you work A.2). You can see that the straps at the back piece and the front piece have different lengths to compensate the difference. The pieces have to be joined in the sides; if it comes out wrong for you, you can try to see how much the pattern is displaced and adjust the pattern with the purl stitches, so that the A.3A pattern is worked over A.2A. Happy knitting!

I am struggling now that I have done the armhole increases and joined back and front on circular needles. Where do I start doing the A3A. after first round of knit stitches. Also when doing the front it says to do diagram A2A straight away...I think this must be incorrect as measurements are wrong. This is not a very straightforward pattern at all.
10.07.2023 - 14:44DROPS Design answered:
Dear Debora, A.1 is only worked in the back piece because it's a longer/higher piece. In the front piece you will only work A.2. Also, after joining the piece to work in the round we usually start the round in the middle underarm of the left sleeve. Happy knitting!

Thank you for the reply to my other question .O have another query when it says knit in the round does that mean that only one side will be joined together as you continue the pattern then you will have to sew together the other side when finished .Or should it be all joined together .I’m new to understanding the pattern when knitting in the round Iv just been going back and forth with the pattern is it any different when working it in the round thank you
30.06.2023 - 18:00DROPS Design answered:
Dear Emma, when working in the round you will join the work at the end of the round, so you will be working everything together, like a tube. Since you aren't working in rows and turning on every row, you don't need to sew it together after finishing the piece; it will be joined together already. You can see how this works in the following video: https://www.garnstudio.com/video.php?id=44&lang=en. When knitting in the round, you will be working always on the right side so, if you are reading a chart, you will always read it in the same direction (right to left) and work the symbols as explained for the right side. Happy knitting!

Hello I’m stuck on section A3a Iv put all my stitches on the circular needles 150 stitches and where it says 2purl or knit each side of the stich markers ,would I still be doing the kkp and either end as well as the 2 stitches each side of the markers ,beginning ,either side of the joins ,end ie ppkkp, ppkkp, ppkkp, ppkkp so 4 times or is this wrong thank you
25.06.2023 - 23:52DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Owen, you will start with purl 2 then work A.3A, repeat A.3B and then finish before the next side with A.3C and purl 2; work diagram just as before; knit the new stitches on the sides on every round except when you have to purl all stitches in A.3, you will then purl all stitches on the round. Happy knitting!

I andra delen av diagram A3A i storlek L-XL-XXL så blir det en ökning varje rät varv. Den håller sig inte på 9 maskor hela tiden. Är det ett fel på diagrammet?
04.06.2023 - 11:52DROPS Design answered:
Hei Ann-Charlotte. Du strikker A.3A og A.3C etter hverandre (sidene av plagget) og disse flettes/henger sammen og holder maskeantallet jevnt. mvh DROPS Design

Hola Silvia, el patrón es correcto. A.1 se trabaja junto en la parte que está más elevada en la espalda que en el delantero. A.2 se trabaja igual en ambas partes.
