Sizes S (M/L) US Size 7(4.5mm) straight & 35” circular; US
size 8 (5mm) 35” circular
Size XL US Size 8 (5mm) straight & 35” circular; US size 9 (5.5mm) 35”

Cable Needle
Gauge:
Sizes S (M/L): 23 sts and 27 rows =
4 inches in pattern stitch using size 8 needles.
Size XL: 22 sts and 25 rows = 4 inches in pattern stitch using size 9
needles
Note: XL is made using larger sizes 8 and 9 needle.
Abbreviations: BO-bind off; CO-cast on; Cont-continue;
Dec-decrease; Inc-increase; K-knit; K2tog-knit 2 stitches together;
patt-pattern; PU-pick up; P-purl; rem-remain(ing); rep-repeat; rnd(s)-round(s);
RS-right side; st(s)-stitch(es); St st-Stockinette stitch; WS-wrong side.
Twisted Stitches = One Stitch Cables: [See

C2B-Slip next stitch onto cable needle and hold at back of
work, knit next stitch from left hand needle, then knit stitch from cable
needle. (= slants to right)
C2F-Slip next stitch onto cable needle and hold at front of
work, knit next stitch from left hand needle, then knit stitch from cable
needle. (= slants to left)
Note: Some knitters may prefer to work these twisted stitch
"cables" without using a cable needle.
Note: Entire Jacket is worked sideways from cuff to cuff.
Left Cuff
Using smaller straight needles, CO 85 (99, 99) sts.
Work 7 rows seed stitch as follows:
Rows 1-7: K1,* p1, k1; rep from * to end or row.
K 1 row, Inc 29 sts evenly across row—114 (128, 128) sts.
Left Sleeve
Change to larger size needle. Work set up row as follows:
K1, p2, *k4, p2; rep from * to last, end p1.
Begin Chart reps until 46 rows have been worked.
Left Arm and Front Shaping
Cont to work in Chart pattern (work all increased sts into patt as established)
Inc 1 st at each end of next row; every other row 1 time; CO 2 sts at beg of
next 6 rows and 3 sts at beginning of next 2 rows. CO 19 sts at beg next 2
rows—174 (188, 188) sts. Work even until 88 (100, 100) rows of Chart patt have
been worked.
Shape Neck
Cont to work in Chart patt work 87 (94, 94) sts for back, place these sts on
holder, join 2nd ball of yarn BO 6 sts work rem sts for left front.
Left Front Neck edge:
BO 5 sts at beg next row; BO 4 sts every other row 1 time; 3 sts every other row
1 time; 2 sts every other row 1 time and 1 st every other row 4 times—63 70,
70) sts. Work 2 rows even. BO all sts for front.
Back Neck edge
Place 87 (94, 94) sts from holder onto needle. BO 2 sts every other row 1 time;
1 st every other row 3 times; 1 st every 4 rows 1 time—81 (88, 88) sts. Work 28
rows in pattern; Inc 1 st at neck edge 1 time; then every other row 3 times; 2 sts
every other row 1 time—87 (94, 94) sts. Place sts on holder, work Right Front.
Right Front
CO 63 (70, 70) sts. Begin working row 1 of Chart;
Next row Inc 1 st at neck edge every other row 4 times; 2 sts every other row 1
time; 3 sts every other row 1 time; 4 sts every other row 1 time; 5 sts every
other row 1 time; 6 sts every other row 1 time—87 (94, 94) sts. Work across sts
from holder for back.—174 (188, 188) sts. Work until 168 (192, 192) rows of
chart have been worked.
Right Arm and Sleeve Shaping
CO 19 sts at beg next 2 rows. CO 3 sts at each end beg next 2 rows; 2 sts each
end every other row 3 times and 1 st each end every other row 2 times—114 (128,
128) sts. Work 46 rows even. Purl 1 row as you Dec 29 sts evenly—85 (98, 98)
sts.
Right Cuff
Change to smaller needles
Work 7 rows seed stitch as follows:
Rows 1-7: K1,* p1, k1; rep from *to end of row.
BO all sts.
Front Bands
Left Band:
Using smaller straight needles, RS facing, beg at left front neck edge; PU 53
(59, 59) sts. Work 9 rows seed st.
Right Band
Beginning at lower front edge PU 53 (59, 59) sts, work same as for left band.
Neck Band and Ties
Using smaller size circular needles BO 60 (62, 62) sts; RS facing PU 22 (24, 24)
sts beg at neckband to shoulder; 35 sts across back to next shoulder, 22 (24,
24) sts to neckband, BO 60 (62, 62) sts—199 (207, 207) sts. Work 9 rows seed
stitch. BO all sts.
Finishing
Sew side seams. Work in ends.
