Cafe au Lait mittens

I saw the Cafe au Lait mitts in my local yarn store and decided to make them full mittens for my mom as a Christmas gift.  Below is my addition to the original pattern to make the full mittens as opposed to mitts. 

I worked the 8 row lace pattern 7 times and then decreased as follows:

Row 1: (K3, K2tog, K1)(K3, K2tog, YO, K1) Repeat around ending with (K3, K2tog, K1)

Row 2: (K2, K2tog, YO, K1)(K2, K2tog, YO, K2) Repeat around ending with (K2, K2tog, YO, K1)

Row 3: (K1, K2tog, YO, K2)(K1, K2tog, K3) Repeat around ending with (K1, K2tog, YO, K2)

Row 4: (K2tog, YO, K3) Repeat around

Row 5: (K1, SSK, K2)(K1, YO, SSK, K2) Repeat around ending with (K1, SSK, K2)

Row 6: (K1, YO, SSK, K1)(K2, YO, SSK, K1) Repeat around ending with (K1, YO, SSK, K1)

Row 7: (K4)(K3, SSK) Repeat around ending with K4

Row 8: Knit

Row 9: K2, SSK, K2tog, K9, SSK, K2tog, K9

Row 10: K1, SSK, K2tog, K7, SSK, K2tog, K8

Row 11: SSK, K2tog, K2tog, K1, SSK, SSK, K2tog, K2tog, K3, SSK

Break yarn, weave tail through remaining stitches and pull tight.

Notes – optional

• Cuff ribbing – I knit the knit stitches through the back loop to twist the stitches for better stitch definition
• I added a lining by picking up the same number of stitches originally cast on from the inside of the cuff using a lighter weight yarn (same needle size). When lining reaches the point where the outer mitten gusset begin, start increasing for gusset stitches the same as original pattern and knit straight stockinette until lining reaches outern mitten top decreases, decreasing at top as follows:

1. K5, K2tog around
2. Knit 2 rounds even
3. K4, K2tog around
4. Knit 2 rounds even
5. K3, K2tog around
6. Knit 2 rounds even
7. K2, K2tog around
8. Knit 1 round even
9. K1, K2tog around
10. K2tog around
11. Break yarn leaving a good lenth tail, thread through remaining stitches and pull tight
