Materials:

Worsted weight yarn

16" circular size 7 (4.5mm) needle

One set size 7 (4.5mm) double-pointed

needles

Cable needle

Stitch marker

Tapestry needle

Gauge:

22 sts/28 rows=4" in St st

Notes:

C4B - Sl 2 sts onto cable needle. Hold to back of work, k the next 2 sts, then k the 2 sts from the cable needle.

C4F - Sl 2 sts onto cable needle. Hold to front of work, k the next 2 sts, then k the 2 sts from the cable needle.

Instructions:

Cast on 90 sts on size 7 needles. Join and PM, being careful not to twist sts. Work in k2p1 rib for 1.5 inches.

Switch to stockinette stitch. On first round inc 9 sts by working: k9, kfb across round--99 sts.

Work even in St st for 10 rounds.

Then work owl pattern as follows:

Round 1: p3, k8

Round 2: p3, k8

Round 3: p3, C4B, C4F

Round 4: p3, k8

Round 5: p3, k8

Round 6: p3, k8

Round 7: p3, k8

Round 8: p3, k8

Round 9: p3, k8

Round 10: p3, k8

Round 11: p3, C4B, C4F

Round 12: p3, k8

Round 13: p3, k1, p2, k2, p2, k1

Round 14: p3, k1, p2, k2, p2, k1

Round 15: p3, k8

Round 16: p3, k8

Round 17: p3, C4B, C4F

Round 18: p3, k8

Work 10 more rounds in St st and then decrease as follows:

Round 1: K2 sts together, K9. Repeat across entire row.

Round 2: K2 sts together, K8. Repeat across entire row.

Round 3: K2 sts together, K7. Repeat across entire row.

Round 4: K2 sts together, K6. Repeat across entire row.

Round 5: K2 sts together, K5. Repeat across entire row.

Round 6: K2 sts together, K4. Repeat across entire row.

Row 7: K2 sts together, K3. Repeat across entire row.

Round 8: K2 sts together, K2. Repeat across entire row.

Round 9: K2 sts together, K1. Repeat across entire row.

Round 10: K2 sts together across entire row.

Cut yarn and thread through remaining sts.

Fasten off. Weave ends.
