These slippers are the child’s version of the ‘Stay on Slippers’. They are knitted in a beautiful cotton yarn with an easy crocheted edging for a snug fit.
Skill Level: easy
Stitches Used: cast on, bind off, knit, purl, decrease, ssk, single crochet, slip stitch
Aberrations: Slip Slip Knit (SSK) Knit Two Together (K2T)
Measures: 5″(6″,7″) long (Slipper should measures about 1″ shorter than foot length)
Gauge: in stockinette stitch, 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4″ by 4″
Notes: slipper comes in girl sizes small (medium, large)
-Materials-
- 1 skein Pisgah Yarn and Dyeing Co. Inc Peaches ‘n’ Creme, pink lilacs – 98 yds (100% cotton)
- 1 skein Pisgah Yarn and Dyeing Co. Inc Peches ‘n’ Creme, shocking pink – 122 yds (100% cotton) (about 5 yards of leftover yarn can be used instead)
- set of four double pointed size 8 knitting needles
- Size F crochet hook
- row marker
- yarn needle
-Pattern- (make 2)
- Cast on 20 (22, 24) stitches
- Knit 1 row.
- Purl 1 row.
- Repeat numbers 2 and 3 till piece measures 3″(3 1/2″ 4″)
- Knit one row, cast on 4 (6,8) stitches at the end of the row. (24 [28, 32] stitches)
- Place marker, join in round, knit till piece measures 4″(5″,6″).
- K2T, knit till there are 6 (8,9) stitches left, SSK, knit to end.
- Knit 1 row.
- Repeat numbers 7 and 8 till piece measures 5″(6″,7″)
- Bind off.
- Fold slipper in half, sew the cast on edge (heal) together.
- Sew the toe together.
- Weave in ends.
- With crochet hook and shocking pink yarn, work this pattern around the foot opening; *crochet 1 single crochet, skip 1 stitch, single crochet in the next stitch*, repeat from * to end, crochet a slip stitch in the the fist single crochet, fasten off.

They look so adorable ! I would love to make some for my cousin for christmas, but I was wondering how big they are (approximately). It says “small/medium/large” … could you compare it to shoe size, for example?
Sorry, I do not have the pattern written by shoe sizes. I only have three approximate sizes for girls small/medium/large. I would suggest knitting the slippers to be roughly 1″ shorter than the foot length. This will along the slippers to “stay on” better. :) I also have another version of this pattern called “Stay On Slippers” for women’ sizes. I hope this helps you.

I wish I could figure this out. I am new to knitting and not understanding how to work this pattern. If you have to have 4 needles how do you cast on to make them work? I’m sorry if I seem stupid, but I have never seen how to use 4 needles.

Thanks for the reply. I am just not getting this. I am trying to do the med. size and I cast on the 22. Do I split this onto the diff. needles when I start or do i stay on one needle to a certain point? I am at the point where I’m going to give up and try and find a video tutorial on toddler slippers. I understand now how to use DPN now though. TY for the video link.
You do stay on one needle for the first 3″(31/2, 4″). Then, you start to knit in the round with the other double pointed needles. I hope this clears some questions up for you. :)
Sort of…I just don’t understand how to go from one needle and then start using 3. Do I cast on the new 6 sts on a dpn? or still on the straight needle? I don’t know how nor can I find a tutorial how to go from straight needle to dpn’s any where. I only find videos using 3 needles with one as the transfer needle not 4 needles with a transfer. If you only use 3 with the 4th as the transfer how to you divide the 28 st?
I am really sorry for being slow. I have crocheted for years and just started knitting after my mother informed me I used to do it before my accident. So I am trying so hard to figure this out since I can’t find a easy slipper for my 2 year old.
I am going to give up if I don’t get the middle part. I am one that needs pictures and video’s to learn these days.

Can these slippers be made on circular needles?
You have to use double pointed needles instead of circular needles due to the small circumference of the slippers.
Hi there ladies, just a note about the ability of circular and 4 or 5 double pointed needles. I have knit straight, circular and multiple pointed needles over many years. My favorite needles are circular needles. Recently I tried to use the double pointed needles and due to my age could not manage the needles I chose. I changed to two circular needles to knit a small hat. I tried to knit on 3 circular needles but found it bulky and slow. Very soon I used the method of knitting from the same circular needle by using the following end and knitting the hat onto it. When I got to the end of that side I switched to the other circular needle and repeated this method of continuing in the round. It is simpler, less confusing and comfortable to knit a small round shape with two circular needles of about 40 centimeters with the knitted fabric surprisingly even in tension. I hope this helps to complete some beautiful knits.
Couldnt one use circular needles by using the “magic circle” method? It’s where you use circular needles and a really long and flexible cord for smaller circumference items.
I am really new to knitting though so Im not sure how it works. I have an interchangeable circular needle set and basically refuse to buy MORE needles lol. I am going to try to make these w/the magic circle method but not sure about joining mid way through.
I have never tried using magic circle, but it should work. :)
I seem to have gotten lost somewhere in this pattern. Somehow when I move from rows 5-6-7, I end up with a different pattern then the original. I try knitting row 6 and the look on the piece looks like I should be pearling to stay consistant. What am I doing wrong?
On row 5, you knit to the end of the row and then cast on 4 (6, 8) stitches. On the next row (row 6) you divide the stitches onto 3 double pointed needles, place a marker to mark the beginning of the row, and start knitting in the round till you have knitting in the round for 4″ (5″, 6″).

Which weight of Pisgah Yarn and Dyeing Co. Inc Peches ‘n’ Creme did you use for this? Ravelry claims that it’s the worsted, but I’m worried that someone else added it, and the tension you give seems more in line with bulky (especially for slippers.)
