Like the Boxy Dishcloth, this cloth is knit in a 4 stitch and 4 row repeated pattern. The ripple (snake) and column (ladder) effect of this pattern gives this cloth its fun name. Slipping the first stitch and purling the last stitch of each row keeps the cloth square and flat. And when knit in bright colours, it makes a great bath time washcloth for the kids!
Yarn
Bernat Handicrafter Cotton (100% cotton; 80 yd [73 m]/1.75 oz.[50 g]). 1 Skein. Shown here in #27444 – Mod Pink, #27111 – Mod Blue, #13712 – Hot Green, and #00097 – Soft Violet.
Needles
US size 8 [5 mm] knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge
16 sts and 28 rows = 4″ [10 cm] in pattern stitch.
Measurements
Approximately 10 x 11 inches, before washing. The washcloth will shrink in the wash, especially in the length.
Washing Instructions
Machine wash and dry.

Is there a certain cast on and bind off style that you recommend? Or what type did you use in the images?
I used a long tail cast on and a regular bind-off. Use whatever you’re comfortable with!
